A significant number of Caravaners are choosing not to use their new 12v TV free standing but opting to mount it on a bracket. With work top space in your Caravan at a premium using a VESA wall bracket can give you more work space and flexibility. Before making a final descion to put your 12v TV on a VESA bracket you should take into account the following points:
The furniture in Caravans whilst it has good structural strength uses quite different wood to that used in a house. A combination of this and the vibration it will be subject to whilst travelling to your holiday destination can cause screws to work loose resulting in a significant amount of damage to your furniture and of course the TV should it fall off during your journey. You should therefore try to site the TV bracket in a location where you can get to the opposite side of the furniture panel enabling nuts and bolts to be used. We alo recommend the use of a metal plate to spread the load.
If your chosen location for the TV bracket is not adjaccent to the original TV point, you should assess the adjacent cupboards to ensure that your cable runs (Aerial, 12v power, mains power) are going to be viable to your prefered location. When installing a new 12v power socket for your 12v TV you are advised to use as short a run of 12v power cable as possible. It should be of a thick guage otherwise voltage drop can occur causing problems when your battery is only half charged. We recommend that a fuse be installed at the battery end of the new cable.
With such a large choice of VESA mounting brackets available you should consider that if your chosen bracket has a reasonable amount of movement, it may require a restraining strap to be fitted or removing the TV for the duration of your jouney. The Vision 2000 brackets have been made specifically for Caravans and Motorhomes, they therfore incorporate a locking mechanism for safe travelling.
